Max-Bond Adhesive
Description
Max-Bond is a polymer based adhesive for use with EIF systems applied over most substrates. Max-Bond provides a superior bond between foam and substrate.
Color
Light gray
Container
48-pounds net weight / 5-gallon pail
Use
Max-Bond is used as an adhesive for foam to substrate as well as foam to foam where extreme adhesion is desired.
Properties
Adhesion
Excellent adhesion to concrete, cement board substrates, block, metal, brick, expanded polystyrene and polyisocyanurate foams.
Coverage
Approximately 120 square feet per container for flat substrates.
Drying Time
12-24 hours, depending on climate. Drying time can be greatly affected by temperature and humidity.
Storage
Protect from freezing. Store in a cool, dry area tightly sealed. Recommended storage temperature between 40-90 F.
Clean-up
Water soluble when wet.
Shelf Life
One year, if protected from direct sunlight and freezing temperatures.
Limitations
- Ambient and surface temperatures must be above 40 F during application and drying period.
- Max-Bond should never be used on horizontal surfaces.
Surface Preparation
Substrate must be clean, dry, and free from all loose or foreign materials prior to application of Max-Bond.
Application
Max-Bond is usually applied to the foam with stainless steel masonry trowels notched 3/8" wide by 1/2" deep every 1 1/2". It can also be applied with a regular steel trowel, using the "ribbon and dab" method. The foam should then be applied to the substrate by pushing the foam on and sliding it into place such that no gaps exist between foam pieces.
