ASTM-Validated Performance

Performance Data You Can Stand Behind

When you’re selecting an exterior finish system, performance matters just as much as appearance. Stuc-O-Flex backs its products with independently tested, ASTM-validated data that gives contractors, architects, and building owners confidence in long-term performance.

The Stuc-O-Flex Elastomeric Acrylic Finish achieves 105% elongation under ASTM testing, meaning the finish flexes with the building as it thermally cycles, settles, and moves, instead of cracking and creating moisture pathways. Bond strength is 127.9 PSF per ASTM C-297. The system carries an ASTM E-84 Class A fire rating, 2,000-hour accelerated weathering resistance, and 300-hour salt spray resistance.

These are the figures architects put in specs and GCs ask for at submittal. They are verified, documented, and available in full technical data sheets.

Product Line

The Stuc-O-Flex Product Line

The Stuc-O-Flex line gives finish crews a complete system, from base coat to finish to rainscreen to restoration coatings, engineered to perform in real field conditions, not just ideal ones.

Elastomeric Acrylic Finish

The core Stuc-O-Flex finish is a flexible, breathable acrylic coating designed to bridge hairline cracks and accommodate substrate movement. It applies over cement plaster base coats and is compatible with a range of sheathing assemblies. Available in a broad palette of colors and textures, it holds color and resists fading through extended UV exposure and weathering cycles.

Base Coat and Reinforcing System

A complete assembly starts below the finish coat. Stuc-O-Flex Base Coat Concentrate, combined with fiberglass reinforcing mesh, forms a polymer-modified base that helps control surface cracking before it reaches the finish layer. Specifying the full system, including the base coat, reinforcing mesh, and finish, creates a more durable exterior assembly designed for long-term performance.

WaterWay Rainscreen Assembly

For projects where moisture management is the primary concern, Pacific Northwest climates, high-humidity coastal markets, or any assembly where bulk water intrusion is a documented risk, the WaterWay Rainscreen Mat creates a continuous drainage and ventilation cavity behind the cladding. It drains water 50x faster than standard weather-resistant barriers, exceeds 247 perms moisture vapor transmission per ASTM E-96, maintains 90% open space within the cavity, and exceeds ICC/IRC AC-38 acceptance criteria for Weather Resistive Barriers.

Stucco-Tex and Renew

Not every project calls for a full replacement. For existing stucco that needs to be refreshed or restored, Stuc-O-Flex offers two restoration products designed for different conditions. Stucco-Tex is a tube-applied, textured acrylic sealant with elastomeric flexibility, making it a good choice when you need to fill and refresh while matching the existing texture. Renew is an elastomeric coating applied at approximately 10 to 15 wet mils per coat, designed to restore aging stucco surfaces and provide an additional layer of long-term protection.

Europlast & Euroseal

When appearance leads the project, Europlast is a decorative Venetian-plaster-style acrylic finish, and Euroseal is its protective topcoat, giving interior and exterior walls a smooth, durable, weather-resistant surface while keeping the performance of an acrylic system.

BeakGuard Woodpecker Deterrent

For buildings where woodpeckers damage stucco or EIFS, BeakGuard is a textured, paintable elastomeric coating that deters bird damage while blending into the finish.

FAQ

Contractor FAQs

Stuc-O-Flex elastomeric acrylic finish is compatible with cement plaster base coat assemblies, EIFS substrates, concrete, masonry, and properly prepared sheathing systems. Substrate preparation requirements vary; contact the technical team for assembly-specific guidance.
For new construction applications, specifying the complete assembly (Base Coat Concentrate, reinforcing mesh, and Elastomeric Acrylic Finish) provides the full crack-suppression and moisture-management performance the system is engineered to deliver. Finish-only applications over existing base coats are evaluated case by case; call the technical team at 1-800-305-1045 with your specific substrate conditions.
Minimize callbacks with three practices: use an elastomeric finish with documented elongation performance, place control joints properly, and add a rainscreen drainage assembly where moisture risk is elevated. The primary callback driver on stucco projects is cracking at movement-prone locations, window corners, control joint terminations, and areas of differential substrate movement, which these practices directly address. For a detailed breakdown, see How to Minimize the Maintenance Costs of Stucco Exteriors.

Product availability, regional distributor contacts, and large-volume quote support are all handled through the main office. Call 1-800-305-1045 or submit a project inquiry using the form on thecontact page. The team can confirm product availability and connect you with the appropriate supply channel for your project location.

EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems) incorporates a continuous layer of rigid insulation board adhered to the substrate, with a base coat, mesh, and finish applied over the insulation. Traditional Portland cement stucco assemblies apply base coats directly to metal lath over the sheathing, with no insulation layer in the finish system. Stuc-O-Flex elastomeric finishes are compatible with both assembly types. The key performance difference is in the finish coat: an elastomeric acrylic finish accommodates the differential movement between the insulation layer and the substrate in EIFS assemblies, reducing the crack risk that rigid finishes face in certain conditions.

Detail the window perimeter with a continuous sealant joint at the window-to-stucco interface, correct flashing integration at the sill, and control joints positioned to relieve stress at the corners. Window perimeters are the most common location for moisture intrusion in stucco assemblies, which is why this detailing matters. Stuc-O-Flex provides detailed drawings for window integration within standard wall assemblies. For crack repair guidance at existing window perimeters, see How to Repair Cracks in Exterior Stucco.

Stuc-O-Flex elastomeric acrylic finish can be applied over properly prepared concrete and masonry substrates. Surface preparation, cleaning, profiling, and priming as required, is the controlling factor for adhesion. The system’s 127.9 PSF bond strength per ASTM C-297 reflects performance on prepared substrates. Contact the technical team for substrate-specific guidance before application.
